Capacity Building From the IMF/AFRITEC West2
An IMF/AFRITAC West2 capacity development team was in Freetown during October 16-25, 2024, to support the Sierra Leone Insurance Commission’s goal of strengthening the regulation and supervision of local insurance companies, including to advise on enhancing the sector’s compliance with relevant insurance core principles.

Below are staff members receiving their certificates following the successful completion of the Regional Course on Insurance Supervision, organised by WAIFEM.
A cross-section of staff from the Inspectorate Department of the Sierra Leone Insurance Commission participated in the Regional Course on Insurance Supervision, organized by the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), held from July 14 to 18, 2025. Upon successful completion of the program, participants were awarded certificates of participation in recognition of their active engagement in the training. The certificates were formally presented by the Deputy Commissioner of the Sierra Leone Insurance Commission.
